Event summary:The Iraqi Medical Association UK was proud to have hosted the first Awards Ceremony of its kind during the month of June 2013 to celebrate the achievements of the Iraqi community in the UK. The function was hosted at a scenic location to the West of London. This unique family event catered for all ages, professions and factions of the Iraqi community. The day proved to be a huge success with Iraqis accross the UK, with guests attending from Manchester, Wales, various parts of London, and Iraq.
The event kick started with a charity exhibition to raise money for the charity I-CARE, an international registered non profit organisation established to help disadvantaged Iraqi children receive free medical and dental care. This includes provision of health education, medical and dental supplies and financial sponsorship of treatment including life saving surgery. I-CARE is non discriminative and helps all children in need.
This was followed by a sumptuous three course meal. A guest speaker spoke about the challenges faced in opening a hospital in Iraq, followed by an address by the charity I-Care, finishing with presentation of the awards to those selected by an independent selection panel.
The evening was concluded with live performance from the comedian Prince Abdi, a raffel with many prizes including an i-Pad 2. and guests were handed out gift packages kindly donated from Colgate and the IMA UK.
